Are Mobile Phones a Health Hazard?

Much debate has been raised in the recent times regarding the ill effects of mobile phones on the human health. With a total of 2.7 billion mobile phone subscribers in the world, this surely is an alarming proposition. As the world gets increasingly dependant on wireless modes of communication, serious concerns have been raised regarding the effects of electromagnetic radiation on human health. While a few studies seem to be in support of the claims, a majority of research reports have remained inconclusive. It is therefore, time for us to take a detailed look at the possible health risks posed by mobile phones, if any.

The primary risk that mobile phones may pose to human beings is that of radiation. Typically, mobile phones operate by emitting certain Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) that transmitted through the antenna of the phone. Although these emissions are of a very low level, the presence of the antenna right next to the brain is what concerns certain researchers, since the head tends to absorb such radiations.
